What is lip blush?
Lip blush is a semi-permanent cosmetic tattoo that adds soft, natural colour and definition to your lips. It enhances your own shape and tone — the result looks like beautifully tinted lips, never heavy or like lipstick.
How long does lip blush last?
Lip blush typically lasts around 18 months, but can last up to 2–3 years depending on your skin type, lifestyle and aftercare.
How long is the appointment?
Allow approximately 2–3 hours. That covers your consultation, lip mapping and bespoke colour match, and the treatment itself — it's never rushed.
Does it hurt?
Most clients are surprised by how comfortable it is. A topical numbing agent is used throughout to keep you as relaxed as possible. Sensations vary from person to person, but it's generally described as very manageable.
Do I need a patch test?
Yes — a patch test is required at least 48 hours before your first appointment to check for any sensitivity. It's a quick, simple step that keeps you safe.
Will I need a top-up?
Yes. A top-up appointment is carried out around 4–6 weeks after your first session to refine the colour and perfect the result. It's an essential part of the lip blush process.
How should I prepare?
- Strictly no caffeine or alcohol 24 hours prior
- Patch test required at least 48 hours before
- Keep lips hydrated in the days leading up
- Avoid lip filler and invasive skin treatments within 4 weeks
- If you're prone to cold sores, antiviral medication is highly recommended
What is the healing like?
- Days 1–3: lips may appear bolder — keep clean and dry.
- Days 4–7: light flaking as colour softens and settles.
- Weeks 2–4: colour continues to blossom and even out.
- Weeks 4–6: top-up appointment to refine and perfect.
How do I care for my lips afterwards?
- Keep lips clean and apply the provided ointment
- Avoid touching, picking or excessive moisture
- Avoid heat, sweating or sun exposure for 7–10 days
Who is lip blush not suitable for?
Lip blush isn't suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or alongside certain medical conditions and medications. If you're unsure, your consultation is the perfect time to check — please get in touch before booking if you have any concerns.
